The good news is, SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is included with SOLIDWORKS 2016 Professional and Premium licenses.

When adopting PDM Standard, it is important to note that SQL Express enforces 1 GB limit on RAM and a 10 GB maximum for the size of the database file. For this reason, it is recommended only for business that does not exceed more than 10 users.
